‘Docked but doing nothing - don’t let QE2 rust away to ruin’
I remember how the cruise liner the Queen Elizabeth II, berthed in Port Rashid, in Dubai back in 2008 and there was a warm celebration to welcome to her.
The owner of this extraordinary ship announced it may be a floating hotel then there were other stories about what it would become. However, today when I travel through the city, I can see she is still in the same place with faded appearance because lack of maintenance.
It is so sad to see developers spending millions
-

on other things and leaving her aside. Previously there was a another similar ship berthed at Port Rashid too, it
was a big ship, but finally, because of a lack of care, it became so rusty, it was pulled away and possibly donated to scraps.
I hope the QE2 doesn’t go the same way.

“The other ship you're refering to sounds like it was the Saga Rose, she came to Dubai briefly after she was sold by Saga Line. Another beautiful piece of maritime history lost forever. QE2 is tied up in money and legal issues, her owners cant sell her for the next 7 years or so and cant rename her, they also cant put her back to sea, according to the terms of her sale by Cunard. So unless her owners find $100 million to convert her to a floating hotel before the end of the decades, she'll go the same way as countless other iconic ocean liners.”

Unfortauntely this was at a time when everyone though whatever they did here would turn into gold but reality has hit since then.
Maybe turn it into a giant Abra ;)”
