We’ve got no A/C, we would like answers

7DAYS

We are a few tenants of Al Ghadeer Tower on Sheikh Zayed Road. We have been suffering without AC from March 15, which had been fixed, but the chillers on the terrace have been busted.

Every flat is suffering without an AC except the office and the salon, which seem to be owned by the building owner - they both have portable AC units installed.

It is funny to learn that there is no maintenance company in Dubai that seems able to fix this problem. I have a wall clock in my bedroom which shows me the temperature and it shows 30 degrees every day.

All of us in the building have had sleepless nights and no proper answer from the office regarding the AC. We have pregnant women, small children and old people all in the same building.

We have had people who have left notices in the lift asking to fix the AC and as yet no relief. We cannot sit in our own homes during weekends. What can we do here?

We all have paid our rents in advance and are stuck till the renewal of the contract.

“What does the building owner say about it? Go to the office and demand answers. If you don't get answers, buy a chain and padlock and lock shut the doors of the office and the salon. People like the landlord will only do something about this if you force them to, they need an incentive to be a decent human being. Give him one.”

“As per the law, you have the right to repair the A/C and deduct the amount from your next due rent. Before you do so, you need to file for a complaint in Dubai Municipality to protect yourself for paying a less rent, and there is no action the building owner can do to you.

    Good luck!”
