Abu Dhabi picks contractors for airport terminal
A consortium that includes the Dubai construction company that helped raise the world's tallest building has won a $2.9 billion contract to build a new terminal in the Emirati capital Abu Dhabi.
Dubai-based Arabtec, Turkey's TAV Construction, and Consolidated Contractors Company of Greece were the companies picked Wednesday by the Abu Dhabi Airports Company to build the ambitious Midfield Terminal Complex.
ADAC says work will begin in the next three months, with opening slated for 2017.

The new terminal is planned as the home of fast-growing Abu Dhabi carrier Etihad Airways.
Arabtec has worked on several of the Emirates' most prominent buildings, including the record-breaking Burj Khalifa skyscraper in Dubai. Its largest shareholder is Abu Dhabi's government-controlled Aabar Investments.
