Aishwarya Rai Bachchan shocks critics at Cannes 2012
Amidst all the criticism about her post-baby weight, a stunning Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made a ravishing appearance at the 65th Annual Cannes Film Festival.
She arrived at the 2012 amfAR's Cinema Against AIDS at Hotel Du Cap in Cap D'Antibes dressed in a cream and gold embroidered saree. The elegant ethnic ensemble was designed by Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla.
This is the 38-year-old actress' 11th year at Cannes as a L'Oreal brand ambassador. She first hit Cannes in 2002 for the world premiere of her film Devdas.

This is also her first red carpet outing since the birth of her daughter Aaradhya last November.
The former Miss World's Cannes wardrobe has been kept a closely guarded secret but it was rumored that she would be wearing an Indian outfit instead of the usual haute couture gowns she sports every year.
The Bollywood diva was also spotted in a smoldering black and ivory silk ombre full-length dress designed by Australian Angelo Katsapis for her very first appearance at the Media Call during the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.
Until recently, criticism of Aishwarya Rai by some Indian media has been staggering. They have said the actress and new mum is letting down her fans by not shedding the weight gained during her pregnancy as quickly as some women such as Victoria Beckham.

“Real women do not hit the gym once they have had a baby. That just doesnt happen. They need a break after 9 months of active duty! Aishwarya is a "real" woman, not like the others who are much too worried about the media and its scathing portrayal of women. I'd like to see all these critics have a baby and then slave away in a gym. Hypocrites! Here we go again with our obsession with body image, pretending that we care at all about the negative repercussions this may cause. Stay strong Ash!”
