Bangladeshi labourer sentenced to 15 years for murder
A labourer has been jailed for 15 years after he smashed a workmate’s head in with a concrete block while he was asleep.
The 34-year-old Bangladeshi was found guilty at Dubai Court of First Instance on Tuesday.
Police were called to a villa under construction in Muraqabbat in October after the body of the victim was discovered. A blood-splattered concrete block was lying next to him.

Officers found out there was a financial dispute between the victim and the Bangladeshi and arrested him in Abu Dhabi as he was making plans to flee to Oman.
“He confessed that he decided to kill the victim and waited until he fell asleep. He then took the 20cm block and smashed his head in one hit,” an officer involved in the case said in testimony.
“He put the block back and then fled to a nearby mosque. He waited until the morning and then went to Abu Dhabi using public transportation and was planning to escape to Oman.”
The killer will be deported after serving his sentence.

“Its really sad to see people resort to murder as the only solution. As far as I'm concerned a person who commits murder is far worse than a monster. You are literally stealing a life and throwing it away. We as humans have reason and logic, if this murderer did have any, he would've first gotten professional help as soon as he had these unholy homicidal thoughts about the person he wanted to kill lurking in his psyche.”
