Beat the heat and dazzle with your luscious locks
If there’s one thing guaranteed to make a woman stand out from the crowd, it’s luscious shiny hair.
However, not all of us have the time to go to the salon once a week for conditioning treatments or even the money for expensive ‘miracle’ products to use at home.
If you don’t have the budget or time for the salon, Jamal Hamadi - celebrity hairdresser and co-creator of Sunsilk Shine and Strength range - is happy to share his top tips for a perfect gleam on your locks.
-

Like Indian star Priyanka Chopra, you can ensure your hair is your crowning glory by following some easy tips to keep it shiny
Jamal, inset, has worked with the cream of the crop in Hollywood styling - Jennifer Lopez, Drew Barrymore, Scarlett Johansson and more - and he says you don’t need to splash the cash to make heads turn.
Top tips for super shiny hair:
>> Apply a small amount of organic avocado cooking oil to ends of hair and leave for 15 minutes before rinsing. Avocado oil is proven to add shine with a natural glow and it absorbs into your hair cuticle rather than coating it.
>> Try soaking your hair in vinegar or beer for 15 minutes then washing it with shampoo. The vinegar or beer will provide a deep cleanse, leaving your hair shiny, clean and gorgeous but be very careful your cleanser doesn’t get into your eyes. You can also mix up egg whites and avocado oil to get a healthy treatment - let it dry into your hair then shampoo it out.
>> Try a natural deep cleansing treatment: blend avocado oil, half an avocado, coconut water, a little lemon and honey and smother onto your hair. Leave for 15 minutes, then shampoo and wash.
>> After shampooing and conditioning your hair, rinse with cold water to seal the hair cuticles, locking in moisture and shine.
>> Your hair is extremely vulnerable in the sun so make sure you cover up! A sun hat or scarf not only
protects your locks, you’ll also look incredibly
stylish.
>> Make sure you get your hair trimmed every six to eight weeks to keep it in tip-top condition.
>> Did you know plastic and metal brushes can actually damage your hair? Invest in a natural bristle and you will notice the difference within days.
>> Are you a colour-holic? Make sure you don’t overlap the colours when you touch up as over-colouring can cause your hair to break and snap off.
>> Get the most out of your wash by brushing your hair before shampooing. This will help to remove product build-up and scalp flakes, as well as stimulate the scalp and promote blood flow. Team with your favourite shampoo and conditioner for straight-from-the salon results.
>> It’s vital to make sure you properly wash out all products as they can cause the hair to appear dull and lifeless if left in.

“Thanks for sharing! I actually prefer argan oil instead because it has more benefits and it's super light on my hair, not greasy. I use Pro Naturals Moroccan Argan Oil hair treatment instead and my hair is shinier, healthier and stronger :)”
