Cabbie jailed for attempted rape
A Dubai taxi driver has been jailed for three years for attempting to rape a female passenger.
Dubai Court of First Instance handed the sentence to the Bangladeshi driver today after hearing that he tried to attack the 26-year-old woman from Kyrgyzstan after picking her up at around 3am.
The woman stated in official records: “He took me to a deserted beach and stopped the car. I felt something was wrong. He locked the doors and jumped on me in the back seat and tried to rape me.

“I resisted him but he was strong. I then made a sound like I was vomiting and he opened the door for me to be sick outside. I then escaped and went to the police station,” the victim said.
The woman had taken the cabbie’s plate number and the driver was arrested.

“all taxi cab's here have a radio that shows GPS position, its used to find cars that are closest to a fare pickup. The central system sends 3 Taxi's that are closest a message for the packup etc.
As such the womans story is easily verifed by the central system as the taxi would be shown to be in the wrong place at the actual time.
What a silly driver.”

“I remember reading these news ages ago..it took them time to sentence the taxi driver, 3 years for attempting rape, while the woman who was beated ,kicked to death for trying to defend her friends lost her life, thats also 3 years..i knew they are two different case..the only relations to this both case are the 3 years sentences...its unfair justice to the family of the woman, deportation to the taxi driver after serving his 3 years sentence.”
