Children's books were used to smuggle drugs through Dubai, cops have revealed.

Dubai Police said yesterday that information they passed to forces in South Africa, Malaysia, Ivory Coast, Oman and Thailand led to five big drugs busts in the respective countries.

One man, who flew from Brazil through Dubai en route to the Ivory Coast was arrested there with 3kg of cocaine found hidden inside books and gift boxes after getting a tip-off from authorities in the UAE.

In another case an African woman was arrested in South Africa with 500g of cocaine inside her bag. She was coming from Brazil through Dubai when inspectors in the emirate suspected her of being a smuggler.
