Clown in dock over abortions
A children’s entertainer accused of selling abortion pills faces up to five years in jail if she is convicted.
The Filipina, who dresses as a clown and does face painting at parties, was caught handing over the pills during an undercover police sting in Abu Dhabi, prosecutors said.
She is charged with helping women get illegal abortions.

The woman told 7DAYS she admits handing over an envelope to a man on the street but says she did not realise it contained abortion pills.
The woman claims a female Russian friend gave her the envelope, which the friend said contained medicine and told her that a Sri Lankan man named Henry would pick it up from her.
“I wasn’t thinking,” the Filipina said.
“My driver was about to take me to the next children’s party, I was in a rush and took it.
“The envelope was in my bag for about four or five hours.”
Later that evening she said Henry called and arranged to meet her.
She alleges that the man also said he would pay her back money that her Russian friend owed her.
When they met the pair exchanged the cash and envelope and two undercover officers swooped in and arrested her.
The case will be heard before Abu Dhabi Criminal Court next month.
The defendant spent two weeks in custody before being bailed.
