Coma girl is home at last
A car crash victim has finally been flown home to Kyrgyzstan for specialist treatment after being struck in a Dubai hospital for months because of a legal fight over an insurance payout.
Aisalkyn Adjieva suffered head injuries when a car travelling at 140kph slammed into the Porsche she was in on Sheikh Zayed Road while out on her 24th birthday in 2010. She remains in a coma.
Aisalkyn’s devoted mum, Gulmira - who has stayed at her daughter’s bedside throughout the 18 months since the accident - has been battling a car insurance firm to get compensation that would pay for specialist help.

A benefactor paid the girl's hospital fees, and Kyrgyz Airlines gave the family free flights
Without that money the pair were stuck in Dubai, unable to pay fees at Rashid Hospital or for a special plane transfer back home, until a mystery benefactor came forward. He paid the hospital fees and Kyrgyz Airlines provided a flight.
A friend said: “The general manager of Kyrgyz Airlines provided free places in the plane. The flight was good, no problems, Aisalkyn was well. Now she is in Kyrgyz hospital.”
She will now undergo treatment overseen by one of the world’s top neurosurgeons, Rinat Gimranov. He told Gulmira it was essential to get her daughter home. “He said she has been in a strange place for too long," Gulmira said after his visit.

“I really feel for the parents. It must be exhausting for them to be so helpless to see their daughter like this. I wish her a speedy recovery.”

“Were charges filed against the driver? Thank goodness for Kyrgyz Airlines and the good samaritan for helping out, we need more people like this in the world. Is there a bank account we can donate money to help with her treatment? I will pray for her recovery. It is no wonder then that the highest number of accidents happend on SZR, when I drive there, I don't drive in the second lane even, always the third or fourth lane. You never know what crazy maniac in a 4x4 comes behind and starts flashing their lights or even if he happens to lose control of the car, much safer to be in the furthest lane on the right.”
