7DAYS

Two consecutive incidents today left my head spinning. First, I was at a home furnishing store in MOE and found an adorable set of cups that went so well with my dinner set (last pieces).

There were no trolleys, so I took the cups to the cash counter and asked the friendly staff to wrap them for me till I took another look around. When I went to pay, the baffled staff said that another customer insisted that they were hers and that she was the one who had brought them to the counter. She paid for them and just took them.

I was shocked that a grown woman would stoop to lying to take another person’s possession! I took off angry and disappointed. As I drove to the parking exit, I noticed the guys in the dark Volvo in front of me having a lengthy chat with the man at the ticket machine. Apparently they had exceeded the free parking limit and hadn’t paid.

The patient worker tried to explain that they needed to pay and asked them to park to the side so the rest of us could pass. To my amazement, they just raced off out of the mall without paying, leaving the poor man trying to chase them. I was enraged.

I chased them a couple of kilometers down SZR and finally snapped a picture of their licence plate and signalled to them about what I saw. They said they would go back and pay which I highly doubt!! Two very disturbing incidents that show just how low our ethics are getting! How much more are we going to lust after material things and trample over each other?

Shame on you ‘cup thieves’ and ‘parking fee ditchers’ of the world!!

“Technically speaking, the cups were not your yet since you haven't paid for them. The woman paid for them, and thus is not a thief. A liar, maybe but not a thief.”
