Doctor in the house
Science-fiction fans will know David Tennant for all his adventures in time and space in the cult British TV programme ‘Doctor Who’.
However, the Scottish actor, who visited the UAE for a special episode of the series back in 2009, has stepped out of his Tardis and onto the silver screen for a starring role in ‘The Decoy Bride’, a British rom-com that is released in the UAE today.
Tennant plays a writer set to marry a famous Hollywood beauty (Alice Eve), only for the paparazzi to hound them into hiding on a remote Scottish island, where they meet ‘Boardwalk Empire’ actress and fellow Scot Kelly McDonald.

David Tennant swaps cult sci-fi role for a rom-com with a distinctly Scottish feel
Director Sheree Folkson was delighted to call on Tennant for her first feature film. The pair had worked together on TV production ‘Casanova’, and Folkson said: “His acting ability is astounding to me. He always has a perfect grasp of the text and the character. He has immaculate comedic timing, a rare gift, and he’s inventive.”
It wasn’t just Tennant’s acting skills that impressed her. She added: “He’s also the most delightful human being. He hasn’t changed at all since becoming famous.
He’s always kind and friendly to everyone. When we were on location - often by the end of the day people would have learned where we were and there would be a queue of kids waiting for his autograph. We work very long hours but David would always sign for every child.
“I walked past once and heard that he was asking them questions about themselves!”
