Drunken shower insults at JBR beach lead to jail
TWO drunken men have been locked-up and fined for cursing God and swearing at a man who was showering on JBR beach in Dubai.
The two Tunisian men were also convicted of insulting the Emirati and drinking alcohol.
Dubai Court of Misdemeanors handed the 38-year-old and 34-year-old two years behind bars and a Dhs10,000 fine for cursing God. They received an additional six months and fines of Dhs3,000 for insulting the Emirati. They were also fined a further Dhs2,000 for consuming alcohol.
The court heard that the 21-year-old Emirati, who is a policeman in Sharjah Police, had taken off his shorts and was showering in his underwear on the beach near a hotel when the duo went over and asked him to cover himself up.
The policeman said: “I told them that it was normal to wear this but they started swearing and insulting me and called me gay.
“Then they started cursing God using nasty words. My friends wanted to fight with them but I stopped them and called Dubai Police. I won’t accept someone insulting God.”
