He called for parents not to pay excess costs for the wedding ceremonies and concerts.

He said the marriage officers registered dowries from one dirham to Dhs50, 000, which is the highest specified limit in accordance with the directives by the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The Least Dowry scheme was carried out in coordination between Dubai Courts' Club and the Department of Personal Status at the Dubai Courts.

“I think that depending on how the marriage contract is written, a dowry can be a financial safety net for women. I don't agree on the need for a dowry in my social context, but I can understand how a women here might want a bit of cash for safekeeping should marital bliss eventually end in divorce.”

“DOWRY is just a formality....why does dowry is too much if the marriage someday is not going strong?.a marriage must be based on the love, willingness and the compatibility of the couple...maybe someday the man will say that he can do whatever he wants to the woman coz he bought her already and some gentlemen can't marry their special someone coz of the expensine dowry.”

“This is really a commendable initiative taken by the couple. I hope it will help create awareness among those for whom dowry is most important and superior than anything. People fail to understand that its the love that binds the relationship and not the dowry!”

“C'mon what century are we living in! Why is dowry needed, both families can pitch in for wedding costs, along with the couple, getting married is the main thing, couples don't need to have an extravagant wedding which they cannot afford, this dowry system should be abolished worldwide.”
