Dubai Municipality pushing for Creek to become 'world heritage site'
Dubai Municipality is using the first ‘Dubai Maritime Week’ event to push the case for Dubai Creek to be named a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The municipality yesterday conducted a workshop to highlight the role of the creek as a vital water passage that has largely contributed to the economic and cultural development of the UAE and the Arab world.
The workshop was attended by international experts and various features of the creek and its global significance as a leading heritage and cultural landmark were discussed.
The aim of ‘Dubai Maritime Week 2012’ is to promote Dubai’s position as a major international maritime destination in the region and worldwide.
