Etisalat confirms new chairman

Telecoms giant Etisalat has a new chairman after it confirmed the appointment of experienced executive Eissa Al Suwaidi.

Al Suwaidi’s appointment to his new role at the UAE’s market leader was confirmed on Tuesday following the issuing of a decree by HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi.

Al Suwaidi also serves as an executive director at Abu Dhabi Investment Council and is chairman of Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank.

“I am honoured to have been given the challenge of leading one of the leading telecommunications com­panies in the region,” Al Suwaidi said on Tuesday. Etisalat also confirmed the appointment of six new board members.
