My daughter is a weekly commuter on Dubai Metro, it’s a great way for her to get to work.

She is still under 21 a so called minor in this country.

Yesterday during her journey she was taken ill. She alighted the train at the next station and vomited. She needed to get herself to the doctors quickly. She was approached by Metro staff and asked to pay a Dhs250 fine right there and then.

  1. letter

Come on Metro staff, where is your logic and compassion!

Not very impressive at all.

“I guess the Metro Staff & RTA has forgotten Humanity. They are so busy in collecting fines from people that they cannot differentiate before what is littering and what is natural / health problem. Common, she did not plan that.”

“I almost puked after reading this letter . This should be considered as a complaint and the authoritys should be able to reply on their stand. How Dare can they do such a thing when a girl fell ill and started vomiting . Dont they have cleaners? No wonder commuters are not allowed to eat and drink. "PATHETIC".

Dont you have any mercy? As some readers rightly pin pointed, they could have hailed a cab and rushed her to the hospital or called her parents.
I think we need to have a first aid in all the stations too. What say? Any thing can happen any time to any one as we dont know whats in store.

Due to the mad rush , there are chances for some commuters to even get dizzy and fall. I would suggest KG to take this up with the RTA and log a complaint. This wasnt done intentionally. Now dont expect us to carry air sickness Bags or Metro sickness bags.

A Little bit of care and attention goes a long way for us to trust and built the confidence. I just wonder what the other people were doing? How can people be so mean and self centered. is this what education is all abt? Dont we feel sorry if this would have happenend to your son or daughter? I am quite disguised with the whole situation and i can understand where KG is coming from. Tks- Mathew Litty”

“becoz of rules in the metro train not to do littering they ignored the life of a young lady. excuse me metro station - do first the First Aid and not the cleanliness. cleanliness will not kill you but the life of the young lady is a stake... think of that METRO STATION..”

“That ridiculous .. understand cleanliness of metro is important, but the staff should target people who are littering and not a person who is sick and suffering.
Afterall staff members are also human and not robots , not to see the difference between two and treat everyone and everything alike.
Thumps down for this kind of treatment by metro staff.
