Traffic cops in Fujairah have recorded 66 offences against quarrying companies caught violating traffic laws.

Fifty-two trucks and heavy machines were also impounded during inspection campaigns conducted at various quarries, said Brigadier Mohammed Ahmed bin Ghanem Al Kaabi, chief of Fujairah Police.

Among other violations, some companies were found employing unlicensed drivers to drive trucks and operate heavy machines at the quarries which is very risky, said the officer.

Police said many of the impounded trucks and heavy machines were found to be in poor mechanical condition.
