GOLF PHOTOS: Rory McIlroy wins DP World Tour Championship by two shots
Rory McIlroy, the world’s best golfer, has finished the year in style by claiming the DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates.
However, the Northern Irishman didn’t have it all his own way, having to draw upon all of his champion qualities to fend off the fast finishing Englishman Justin Rose who fired a course record final round 10-under par 62 to finish at 21-under the card.
Rose eagled 14 then followed up with birdies on 15 and 18 to enter the clubhouse as outright leader, throwing down the challenge to McIlroy.

But with girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki on hand for support, the 23 year-old showed why he’s the best in the world, making birdie at the final five holes to finish on 23-under the card, equaling Lee Westwood’s 2009 tally and making it win number five for 2012.
When asked what the victory meant to him, a jubilant McIlroy said: “It means an awful lot. I had already won the race to Dubai and I wanted to win that trophy too.
Justin was making a run down the back nine and I knew I needed to do something special and I did.”
Rose finished outright second with Luke Donald and Charl Schwartzel tied for third on 18-under.
