“I thought that it’s the boy who brings the water bottles and opened the door and saw the defendants.
“They pushed me inside and locked the door and tied me with a scarf. I was on the ground yelling and resisting them and they tried to tied me up with bed sheet and one of them took the boy.”
The man, a 27-year-old Sri Lankan, sat on her chest and covered her mouth with his hand.
“I bite his fingers and he assaulted me and covered my face with another bed sheet until I fell unconscious,” the victim said. “I was passed out for 30 minutes and then woke up and managed to free myself and searched the house, thinking that they kidnapped the boy but he was in a room.”
The trio stole gold and jewellery worth Dhs200,000 from the house while the woman was unconscious.
The woman says she remembers hearing one of them saying: “I think she’s dead.”
Police later arrested the man, who said he had carried out the crime with the two women, one of whom worked for the victim’s daughter as a maid. The other woman also worked as a housemaid, but for a different family.
All three will be deported after serving their sentence.
