Heading off with sweet and sour memories

We are leaving and I will take back good and bad memories of this dazzling city. I am grateful for the job my husband had in Dubai.

His company do not want him to leave. He has been a valuable asset and a gentleman at all times. He studied on his day off and in the evenings and has achieved his masters degree and become a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. He is a man of honour and integrity.

Even though I am a very outdoors type, I have made the best of this HOT place. I made some wonderful friends over the years (even though they all eventually leave Dubai).

A few of us have been good stewards of our finances and are set for our future. Dubai has benefitted from our husbands’ expertise and we have been rewarded for their hard work. For this I am thankful.

But the construction noise has tested our pit-bull tenacity to the limit! The other bad memory will be of some of the tenants of our apartment block. They do as they please. They disturb us all day and all night with their inconsiderate behaviour.

Everyone I know has a story of the children running riot in their apartments, riding scooters overhead and crashing into walls. This was allowed until 2am in one case.

I come from a country where we are ready to help one another. I am happy to leave and share my experiences with the good folk at home. Thank you Dubai and GOODBYE!
