Just accept 'maamsir' - you'll be much happier
I’d like to respond to Angry Shopper. If something as trivial as ‘maamsir’ worries you, I question...
...what you’re doing at such a world-class venue with all of those important business representatives from all over the world.
I guess you speak all of their languages fluently. But then again, I very much doubt it!

How important is it for you to be greeted the right way? Send your letter to letters@7days.ae.
Ever thought of whinging about something important, like starving children or people with social hardship, hmm, I doubt that too.
One of the great things about living here in Dubai is that we have such a diverse population with people from all over the world and, guess what, they’ve all made the effort to learn to speak English and it’s charming to hear different accents and phrases.
I suggest you embrace their efforts rather than criticise, you’ll be so much happier.

“Why whine about starvation and other hardships? Surely being called maamsir is a true hardship? When will you realise that first world problems are so devastating for the people of Dubai?”
