Killer rapists have death penalty overturned

Two men who raped and murdered a 50-year-old maid have had their death sentences commuted to six years in prison after the victim’s family waived their rights and accepted blood money.

Fujariah Appeal Court heard how the duo also raped another maid during the violent attack.

The pair had been let into the house in Marbah by the 15-year-old son of the maids’ boss.

The two Indonesian women were sleeping when the duo sneaked into the home.

The court was told the maid who died suffocated because the men stifled her screams for help by covering her mouth.

The two Emirati defendants, aged 21 and 25, were found guilty of murder and rape.
