Maid charged with killing her newborn baby
A maid who is accused of killing her newborn baby went on trial today for having an illegal affair with the child’s father.
Dubai Court of Misdemeanours heard how the 35-year-old Ethiopian housemaid became pregnant after having sex with a 29-year-old Indian driver.
The pair failed to show in court to enter a plea to the illegal affair charges. Dubai Court of First Instance is to set a date for the maid to face a charge of murder.

Official records state that the Ethiopian’s Emirati boss found the baby’s body while searching the maid’s bags.
Police arrested the housemaid who told cops she gave birth to the baby in her room.
An Emirati policeman said: “She claimed that she delivered the baby girl. The next day she said she wrapped the girl in fabric and put her in a travel bag to hide her. She said she left her there for six hours.”
The maid claims the baby then died.
