Thank you...Thank you..... Thank you... Sigiri for the letter ‘Housemaid is treated like a mother’ (Sept 10).

For once we finally read that locals, Arabs etc are not painted as monsters! It’s good to know that some positive feedback comes out sometimes from helpers. To those helpers who say they are mistreated, maybe it’s because it is something that you do wrong. Think about that!

For Every BAD employer stands a BAD helper. That’s how it goes.

    “Wow.. what a negative letter..
CT the way your goin on, it sounds like you are someone who embedded nails into your maids skull and felt justified for it because she missed a spot.

A 'bad' helper does not deserve physical abuse.

And no CT, it is not the fault of the helper if she or he is mistreated. Just no CT. It's not 'how it goes'”

A 'bad' helper does not deserve physical abuse. Human rights is something not properly taught here in Dubai and that's due to lack of education in my opinion.

“You're right, that single story has certainly tipped the balance back and shown all the doubters”

“All the letter showed us is that every once in a while, you can find the needle in the haystack. The fact that a housemaid is being treated as a human being is cause for writing into a newspaper just highlights how bad the problem is. Even if someone is terrible at their job, they should still be treated with respect and be able to see the light of day once in a while (and I'm not talking about washing the fleet of Land Cruisers).”
