Man applies for UAE visas for '40 sons'
A man has been jailed for a year after he was convicted of lying to immigration authorities while obtaining visas for 40 people who he had claimed were all his sons.
The Federal Supreme Court in Abu Dhabi sentenced the Somali man today after hearing immigration officers became suspicious about his applications because he was claiming he had so many children.
Authorities initiated an investigation and discovered that only one of the people he applied for visas for was his biological son.
The court also sentenced the 39 men who were found not to be the defendant’s sons to six months in absentia and ordered their deportation from the UAE.
