Man jailed for having illegal affair with prostitute

A man has been jailed for a year for having an illegal affair with a prostitute who he is accused of murdering.

Dubai Court of Misdemeanors handed down the sentence to the 27-year-old Bangladeshi on Thursday. He is still on trial for the murder charges.

The court was told that he allegedly killed the prostitute following a dispute over Dhs100. During investigations he said he gave her Dhs50 but she demanded Dhs100.

She was strangled to death with her own scarf.

The court heard that the Bangladeshi went to an abandoned villa in the Refaa area of Dubai to have sex with the Asian woman.

Her skeleton was found six months later by a municipality inspector who was visting the building before it was demolished.

The man was also given a further month in jail for consuming alcohol.
