Midas touch for iPad - golden gadget on sale in UAE
This is the world’s most luxurious iPad - coated in 24-carat gold and on sale exclusively in Dubai for a cool Dhs20,195.
The new iPad was given the Midas touch by firm Gold & Co within just six days of it being launched by Apple but until now it has been shown only to UAE VIPs.
Now, though, it will be on display at the Damas jewellery store in Dubai Mall, Gold & Co’s official retailer in the Middle East. The first gold iPad unit in the world will then be auctioned off for charity.

The golden gizmo is already attracting interest for the firm, with several orders already placed.
A spokesman for Gold & Co said: “Each unit is custom made, individually numbered and is limited strictly to a maximum 250 pieces per region a year.”
The 64GB 4G iPad is being showcased alongside the firm’s 24-carat-gold-plated 64GB iPhone and BlackBerry 9900.
All the gold coverings are hand-crafted and the gadget comes in a wooden box.
