Princess Haya meets Polish first lady
HRH Princess Haya bint Al Hussein has discussed humanitarian issues with the wife of the Polish Prime Minister.
The princess, who is the wife of UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, received Malgorzata Tusk at her office in Dubai yesterday.
Tusk is accompanying her husband, Donald Tusk, on a visit to the UAE that is aimed at boosting ties between Poland and the Emirates.
However, Princess Haya and the Polish first lady took time to discuss both regional and international humanitarian and women’s issues, the UAE’s state news agency WAM reported.
The princess is well known for her humanitarian work both locally and abroad, particularly in the areas of health, education, youth and sports. Among other roles, she raises awareness of the Millennium Development Goals, especially those of eliminating poverty and hunger.
Additionally, Princess Haya works to find ways to use sport to support the development of impoverished youths in the world’s poorest nations.
And she was also the first Arab and first woman to serve as World Food Programme Goodwill Ambassador, travelling to Malawi, Ethiopia and Syria to witness first-hand the impact of their food crises.
