Queue-jumping drivers just add to the chaos
Last night I was driving home from work and got caught up in an horrendous traffic jam on Emirates Road, between Arabian Ranches and Al Ain Road.
Luckily I was ONLY caught up in the jam for three hours because I live in a development off Emirates Road. But I’m sure that many suffered far more than me. I’m disgusted at the utter disregard of the rules of the road by many selfish drivers.
The indiscipline that they exhibited by driving on the hard shoulder or in the desert parallel to the highway was amazing. The thoughtlessness of this action resulted in even more delays for the rest of us law-abiding citizens as they were essentially queue jumping. The result was that my dinner ended up in the dog! What these inconsiderate people don’t realise is that when they rejoin the queue then there is a knock-on delay for all of those people behind. Then, of course, there is the risk of more accidents as a result of such poor and random driving.

Why is it that people need to behave like this when for many they would not even dare to do such things in their home countries? I am sure the police had enough on their plate in dealing with the cause of the jam but it would have been wonderful if they were able to see the behaviour behind them. Our roads are dangerous and tiresome enough without mindless drivers adding to the challenges.

“The thing is, a lot of people would and do behave like this in their own country, that's part of the problem”

“and then once in your life time you decide to go naughty and do the hard shoulder business on the road like the others, and then at this very moment in history and out of no where there will be a policeman there stationed right ahead with his fines booklet waiting for you as if he were sent on a mission to fine you and go back to his commander to report: 'mission accomplished sir'”

“"What these inconsiderate people don't realise is that when they rejoin the queue then there is a knock-on delay for all of those people behind." - I disagree, they do realise, they just don't care.”
