A gang of youths have been arrested over the death of an 18-year-old who was hit by a car and dragged for 200m
According to police investigations, “three Emirati brothers, in their 20s, had been in a fight with another group earlier and decided to get revenge on them, so they went to Oud Al Mutaina at 5am on Friday”, Al Mansouri said.
“They fought with the group, which conĀsisted of three Emirati brothers and one of their friends from the Comoros Islands.
“They used knives and swords. Two of them were injured in the fight.” Police said the group of brothers fled but as they did they ran over the 18-year-old from the Comoros Island, dragging him for 200m.
Al Mansouri added: “The victim was seriously injured and died before reaching the hospital. The driver escaped from the scene and his two brothers went in a different direction in a separate car. We arrested them all nearby and collected their weapons.
“We don’t know if the suspects intended to run over the victim or if it was just an accident. We are questioning them. We also want to find out how they got such weapons.”
