Thousands of Toyotas are back in the garage in UAE
More than 4,000 Toyota vehicles in the UAE have been recalled to be checked for faults, one of the brand’s dealers said yesterday.
Al Futtaim Motors said the recall applies to 4,109 Toyota Fortuner vehicles manufactured between 2006 and 2008.
The company’s managing director Simon Frith said that Toyota had informed them that in some of the vehicles the rear propeller shaft needs inspection and may require a “minor adjustment”.

The firm has started contacting customers directly to get them to make an appointment at one of their service centres, Frith added. He also encouraged customers with any questions to contact the firm’s customer care team on 04 206 6002.
“We regret any inconvenience this may cause and thank our customers for their patience and understanding,” Frith said.
Toyota has had to recall millions of vehicles across the globe in recent years due to concerns about potential faults - including over two million vehicles recalled due to an accelerator pedal problem.
However, the firm has rebounded from the incident and has put a year of earthquake-related shortages behind it to grab sales from General Motors and Ford in the US.
Toyota’s sales rose to 12 per cent in the US in April, new figures show.
