Time for a small change: why not round prices up?
As you can see by the attached bill from a grocery store, on paying for my shopping I was owed Dhs10.65, but only received Dhs10.50.
I know this happens because there’s no way the cashier can give that Dhs0.15 back. But it makes me wonder why the prices aren’t rounded up. Why are some items marked Dhs5.05?
Why can’t it be Dhs5? Is this a legal practice?
I thought of writing to you to find out if I’m the only one who is wondering if I got short-changed, or if this is a gimmick by shops to make a quick buck.
