7DAYS

I have been living in a tower in Sports City since april. Since the day I moved in the fire alarm in the building has been going off at all hours almost every day.

The security man tells me it has been the same for two years. Every time any person cooks the alarms go off. My landlord is aware of the problem but tells me it's the developer's responsibility to have this corrected. What concerns me is, as everyone is used to the alarm being false, god forbid there is a real fire!!!!

As an insomniac, to have these alarms going off at 11pm and 4am is too much to bear, the children next door screaming when the ear piercing alarm rings through the apartment is cruel to listen to. Can I get my deposit back and move on, or am I suffering while the developer and landlord decide who should deal with the problem?

“I have the same problem in the building where I live in Qusais. Even though there is a notice from the management to avoid overcooking and smoking, people still do it. I have cigarette butts in my balcony that other tenants have carelessly thrown away because they are too lazy to throw it in their garbage or probably afraid of the husband or wife finding out. Really inconsiderate neighbors so I truly sympathise. Complaints to the landlord are fruitless so I have decided to shift I suggest you do the same. I sleep with earplugs but still get woken up as the fire alarm is loud enough to wake even the deepest sleeper. As for calling the fire brigade they had come before to the building many times and the management mentioned this in the notice that people flouting the rules will be dealt with strictly unfortunately they don't have the guts to impose penalties/eviction. Happy shifting!”

“Pick up the phone and call the fire fighters / civil defence for each alarm that sounds...
It won't take long till the problem is rectified for good!”
