Tourists on the rise, we need better service
Despite the rise in tourist numbers, the taxi service just doesn't get better. Yesterday I ordered a taxi for an overseas visitor to go to the airport at 12pm.
After phoning four times to check on its status, I eventually had to get a friend to drop the visitor at a taxi - needless to say he missed his flight and had to stay an extra day. How can this still be happening at midday on a work day?
Taxi drivers have no idea how to reach their destination, despite the fact they are supposed to have GPS, and they continually get lost. The same visitor arrived by taxi and the cab driver drove them around for an hour, stopping cars on the way to find out where the address was.
If we want to have 20 million visitors by 2020, we need an improved service to assist tourists. If the taxi drivers don’t know where to take the visitors, how can the visitors be expected to know?
