Tramadol found hidden in spare tyres
Dubai Police have arrested three men after finding a stash of illegal painkillers hidden in a spare tyre.
The head of anti-narcotics, General Abdul Jalil Mahdi, said they receieved information on August 16 that a gang of suspects were in possession of a large amount of Tramadol.
“One of the gang members is a 33-year-old Emirati man who has a criminal record and he is one of the most dangerous drug traders in the UAE,” said Mahdi.
“He and other two Emiratis were looking to sell Tramadol to young Emiratis during Eid.”
Police launched an investigation and tracked down one of the suspects. They later arrested the other men in a car.
“The car was in front of the man’s house at 1am, and we arrested them. They had hidden the pills in the spare tyre thinking it’s a safe place,” Mahdi said.
He added medical tests showed the suspects had drugs in their system.
They have been referred to Dubai Public Prosecution.
