UAE and Bahrain carry out joint military exercises

UAE and Bahrain's armed forces began a joint military exercise codenamed 'Hawks Union 1/2012' on Sunday.

The exercise involves personnel from UAE Air Force and Air Defence as well as Bahrain's Royal Air Force and is being carried out as part of a joint strategy aimed at strengthening military cooperation and improving capabilities. It will continue for several days.

The exercise entails several joint defence scenarios, in addition to practical applications, tactical manoeuvres, joint air operations, command and control and fire support, according to a report on UAE national news agency WAM.
