UAE President approves Dhs500 million aid for Yemen
The President of the UAE, HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has approved Dhs500 million in aid to buy food and distribute it urgently to people in need in Yemen.
National news agency WAM reported on Sunday that the gesture was “in line with his brotherly feelings towards the Yemeni people and out of his keenness to alleviate the sufferings and ensuring the availability of basic needs for commodities and food stuff”.
Sheikh Khalifa has assigned the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Humanitarian Foundation to buy the food items from the local markets in Yemen to stimulate the country's economy, in particular the local markets.
The items include rice, sugar, cooking oil, baby milk, canned food and other basic items of daily use.
The President has also ordered that assistance is provided directly to the Yemeni people by establishing distribution outlets in different regions of the country so recipients can get help quickly.
