Climbing temperatures across the UAE mean summer has definitely arrived, according to forecasters.

With the mercury climbing above 44C yesterday in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and today’s set to be the same, a forecaster at the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology said: “It’s seasonal. It is normal for this time of the year for the temperature to start increasing.”

The heat is blowing in from the desert on a south westerly wind and an easterly breeze coming in from the Oman Sea is adding rising humidity.

The forecaster said: “It is normal for the temperature to be increasing now. Of course June, July and August are very hot in the UAE.”

Despite a lack of rain in the coastal areas this year, the east is currently likely to get some showers. Al Ain and the mountains should expect some wet weather today and tomorrow.

For the rest of the country the “thermal low” will continue bringing hot air from the desert for the next few days.
