Volkswagen Middle East has launched a fuel-saving game on facebook.

The 'Think Blue. World Championship' app is designed to increase drivers' environmental awareness.

Users can play online to win a chance to qualify for the regional finals to be held in Dubai, and the international finals taking place in California.

The 'Think Blue. World Championship' app is designed to increase drivers' environmental awareness.

More conscious driving can cut fuel consumption by up to 25 per cent and protect the environment. The game's purpose is to show that all drivers can make their own personal contribution to environmental protection without sacrificing driving pleasure.

Karsten Jankowski, the marketing director of Volkswagen Middle East, said: “We’re pleased to launch the Volkswagen fuel-saving app here in the Middle East as part of Volkswagen’s international initiative to drive environmental change.

"The principle of ‘Think Blue’ is perfectly reflected by the game and inspires everyone to join us in making our everyday driving behaviour more responsible in an exciting and entertaining way.”

Participants can play the game individually or against other regional players until September 9.

Players with the highest scores qualify for the chance to attend the regional finals.

The regional competition winner will then go on to the 'Think Blue World Championship 2012' in November in the US.

The driver who completes the final competition with the lowest fuel consumption and also demonstrates his or her knowledge of environmental protection and sustainability will become world champion.
