Weaver in flying visit to UAE for green talk
Speaking at the Women as Global Leaders conference in Abu Dhabi, US actress Sigourney Weaver praised local eco initiatives.
Award-winning actress Sigourney Weaver has praised the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan for installing solar panels on the roof of his court.
“Not even the President of the United States has that,” she told an audience at the Women as Global Leaders conference in Abu Dhabi.
Weaver was speaking at the event on the subject of ‘Creating A Sustainable Future’ and praised Sheikh Mohammed for installing the panels last year as part of the capital’s plan to reduce carbon emissions.
Weaver was paid a six-figure sum to appear at the event and was due to fly back to the US today having told the audience they needed to reduce carbon emissions.
She also called for better maternity care in poor countries. Hollywood star Weaver also met with students in the capital.
