World's most expensive cupcake unveiled in Dubai
The world’s most expensive cupcake has been unveiled at Bloomsbury’s boutique café, which opened at Dubai Mall on Thursday.
The most expensive ‘edible’ cupcake, The Golden Phoenix, was rolled in on a lush, Italian, Villari 24-carat gold-plated Maria Antoinette Princess Tea Trolley and presented on a 24-carat gold painted Empire Morning Cake Stand with Cloch.
The whole package cost more than Dhs100,000, however if you fancy just the cupcake itself then it is available in store for a mere Dhs3,700.

“It reminds me of the world's most expensive cocktail at the Burj al Arab. Why must everything be the most expensive? & in the same week that people are being asked to contribute towards the victims of violence in Yemen.”

“Think you guys need to lighten up a bit and quit being so negative. 7 days have obviously forgotten to give the whole news. Just read in the other papers, that the reason the Cupcake is so expensive is because of the ingredients used in it. Just the chocolate alone costs a few hundred dollars, they say its Amedei Porcelena cocoa from Italy. If you enjoy good food taste and presentation then you would appreciate the effort that has gone into creating this. I don't see any of you making a fuss about a million dollar painting or expensive dining at the Burj al Arab. Theres nothing disgusting about it, someone wanted to attempt making a unique cupcake and they did it. clearly some people have bigger issues. If you cant appreciate someones hard work then certainly don't discourage them from doing what makes them happy. peace.”

“Did someone invent a time machine and take us back to 2007 again?
What makes me laugh about this, is that the recent cup cake fad was a cheap(ish) tongue in cheek response to the insanity of the pre-crash days. I'm not entirely sure whether this *******isation of it is lost on Bloomsbury's, or whether it's a deliberate poke in the eye to it.”
