Young greenie says we're guilty of rubbish approach
I am 11 years old, I am writing to offer a suggestion to the issue of waste.
I am really concerned about how much waste people produce in Dubai. I’m also concerned about how they get rid of it, all the waste dumped in the desert. I know that because I saw signs on the malls saying clean up Dubai and a person carrying lots of rubbish into the desert and also I looked up websites and I saw these signs too. They think that’s the solution but that’s not the answer as we’ll pay for it in the future.
To help stop this issue, you can put recycling bins in every public place to make Dubai a better and greener city for all of us. This will also be good business.

“You can blame "convenience". There was a time when there were no plastic bottles or bags or throw away aluminium containers. Food wasn't wasted and kitchen scraps went on the garden. Old newspapers were used as kindling or recycled into papier mache at schools and the only thing that went in the bin were ashes from the fire. Glass bottles had a cash value and were washed and reused and provided a source of income for diligent kids willing to return them to the shops. Fresh meat & fish were wrapped in paper and you always took your own shopping bag when you went out for groceries. Then someone came up with the term "convenience" - it is ' convenient" to sell pre-packaged goods and "convenient" to have single use plastic bottles and the end result is that you lot throw away tons and tons of waste every year. Recycling is a farce - a politically correct phrase that everyone bows to but generally ignores as it is too costly and takes up too much time.”
