Youths arrested in Umm Al Quwain for breaking into cars
Five youths have been arrested for breaking into cars and stealing valuables worth Dhs50,000 near mosques in Umm Al Quwain (UAQ).
The youngsters are aged between nine and 14 years old, and were detained after several complaints of vehicle break-ins across the emirate.
Major Salim Ali Halis, director of the Criminal Investigation Department at UAQ Police, said officers arrested the boys after taking fingerprints from the vehicles that were targeted.

“They had been smashing windows of cars using iron rods,” said Halis. Mobile phones and cash were among the goods that police say the youngsters pocketed.
The officer said that during investigations the boys admitted to stealing from vehicles in car parks near mosques while the owners of the motors attended Friday prayers.
The boys added the items they had acquired totaled Dhs50,000 in value. They said they used the cash to buy motorcycles, toys and clothes.
The suspects have been referred to public prosecution.
