A day's off is not enough
It is fact that in recent times, majority of us have started to lack patience and most feel burdened, stressed and pressurized in life.
I have always wondered the reason behind this shift in behavior and found out that the problem is simple and right before our eyes. It is just that people do not get enough time to relax and unwind these days.
The working class will agree with me on this that a day's off is just not sufficient to compensate for the long durations of work. Most of the employees in the government sector in the UAE have 2 days off, where as those working in the private sectors have to report to work 6 days a week.
My brother works in the field of sales and works for almost 12 hours each day, 6 days a week with only one day off on Fridays. He struggles to manage his time on Fridays because he barely has time left for anything. He usually sleeps for almost half the day and the remaining is spent in buying grocery or shopping for basic items. There are many employees who have similar work routines and some are compelled to even work for the entire week without any break.
Organizations should understand that work is endless and dumping employees with excessive workload; with just
one day off is not a fair deal. I feel that it should become mandatory for organizations to give each of their employees' a 2 days break from work per week. This will not only be beneficial for the employees but will also reflect in their performance at work and will help increase productivity.
I fail to understand why aren't the people working in private sectors treated like those in the government sector? I feel that a two- days off is a necessity and a right of every employee because they have limited time to catch up with all the issues and events happening around them.
