“I am guessing the reason why your application had been rejected is because your son is only 4 years old. Year 1 children have to be 6 years old to be admitted on that level. I guess that is quite simple to understand. You have to do your homework first before plunging on a decision.”

“Dear E_loise, that wasnt the reason behind the rejection.
In dxb you have to be 4 to enter Kg1 (FS2), my son is 4 and is currently attending KG1 in a preschool.
I have been living in dxb for 30 years and have actuallyfinished my high school here, so i HAVE done my homework!
My article above was to raise a major concern over how schools are taking advantage of parents wanting the best for their children and how schools have a hidden system of selecting their students.
Please do not post irrelevant and non- constructive responses.”
“Registering in schools in Dubai has become quiet unreal!!!
Recently my son, 4 years, got assessed in a school applying for Year 1, 2012-2013. The assessment was basically having them play with toys in a room and then play in an outdoor playground. After 2 months I received an email saying our application was declined!!! I was quiet surprised and wanted to get further details to understand the reason behind this declination.
The response I received from the school was even more shocking. They just basically told me that the application didn’t go through and that they cannot send reasons for each and every application.
Furthermore, I requested if I could apply again for the following year 2013-2014 assuming that maybe he was declined maybe because of unavailability of space and since I would also want to register my 3 year old daughter. I received a response from the registration saying that once an application doesn't go through, and as per the school's "POLICY", we cannot reapply again!!! but I can however apply for the new sibling!!!!!
I mean seriously!!!! Is this a university that we are applying to?!??!?! My son is 4 going to year1!! Not 18 going to Medical school!!!! And why on earth can I not reapply again? What policy is this?
I am wondering if this is even accepted by the Dubai KHDA!!!!!! I am extremely disappointed that applying to schools these days in Dubai have become so STRANGE, UNREGULATED and UNFAIR!!!!! I am a Dubai high school graduate and back in my days things were soo much simpler!!! You didn't have to pay the 500dhs "WAITING LIST" fee where you MIGHT or MIGHT not secure a space.
Schools in Dubai need to be regulated and strict laws should be set by one and only one entity. Schools should not be given the freedom to abuse parents and make this a MONEY related business.
I would love for this story to be published on the 7days newspaper to raise awareness of the concerned personnel.
Thank you”
