iPhone 5 users can now use 4G network in the UAE
Life just have got faster for the UAE’s iPhone 5 users - after the country’s two mobile operators yesterday confirmed that the device can now access the UAE’s modern 4G network.
Some phone fans who shelled out for the expensive Apple gadget had been left disappointed to find that they couldn’t use its much-fangled ability to tap into long-term evolution (LTE) networks - popularly dubbed 4G - across the UAE. Well, no more.
Etisalat was first off the mark yesterday with the announcement that its iPhone 5 customers can now connect to its LTE network to enjoy “high-speed applications and processes” and promised speeds of up to 150 Megabits per second.

Rival du soon confirmed that its customers with the device can also now access its LTE network.
Meanwhile, rumours were spreading yesterday that Apple’s iPhone 6 is already being developed.

“Finally somewhere wrote something about this! I can't believe Etisalat didn't even advertise or promote enabling LTE on iPhones!
I also upgraded to 6.1 yesterday and until now I haven't had any LTE reception on Etisalat in Dubai. I do know people who are able to get LTE on their iPhone 5 in Abu Dhabi, but I'm only getting 3G. Etisalat customer care however has confirmed to me that it should work in coverage areas and that I should try resetting my network settings if its not working. I tried it in DIFC, Downtown and Dubai Mall and it didn't work anywhere.”
