More taxi users puzzled over journey policy
I had the same experience as Nick - ‘Passenger puzzled over cabbie’s strange call’.
Returning from abroad, I needed to collect my house key from a friend who was looking after my pet and then proceeded home. I also had my colleague with me, who stays near me in Dubai Marina.
Firstly, the cabbie refused to drop my colleague at his apartment around the corner from me and showed us the list of rules they have been issued with that says two stops are not allowed.
-

Secondly, this meant that I had to use this ride to collect my keys (a 10-second stop, maximum) and then find a new taxi to proceed home with! What is going on here and what’s the reason for this inflexibility?
The poor cabbie really got an earful from us, but he doesn’t make the rules....

“What happens when you and a group of friends are returning from dinner ? do you all need to hail cabs ? Why mess with a system that was working ?”

“Very odd.
You're a taxi. Go where I say and then I give you a money. This is how it works.
Plenty of times you drop someone off home and then continue. I would make this clear when I get in the taxi, if they can't do it, I'll get out and find someone that will (and there will be someone)”
